This week the folks at Senior have been experiencing a bittersweet mix of emotions. On the one hand, this Tuesday marked the official end of what has become an annual event for the team; the one and only Great Senior and e-days Bake Off; but on the other hand we were able to use our skills to create cakey creations inspiring enough to have helped raise over £60 for our lovely clients, the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group.
After having worked with the CCLG at Christmas raising money on Christmas Jumper Day, we decided we rather liked the idea of doing something fun for a worthy cause. When the time came to announce the second annual Great Senior Bake Off which just so happened to precede CCLG’s own Bake Sale (details of which you can find here: http://www.cclg.org.uk/bigbakesale) we thought the only obvious step forward was to merge the two!
We’re delighted to announce that after 6 weeks of mixing, stirring, spilling, baking, burning, icing, slicing and eating that we can announce who has won the bronze, silver and gold Star Baker prizes!
The winners are:
Bronze - Andy ‘Frangipane’ Faulkner with his Star Wars inspired bake ‘The Force A-cakens’.
Silver - Ben ‘The Flower Pot Man’ Mactaggart with his innovative spring themed creation ‘Ben’s Flower Pots’.
Gold - And finally the winner of the Great Senior and e-days Bake Off 2016 is Sophie ‘Buttercream’ Curwood and her sumptuous chocolate gateaux entitled ‘I Like Pig Butts and I Cannot Lie’!
Sadly the winner does not get to bake a cake for the Queen or sign their own book deal; but instead, as well as a certificate expertly designed by our graphic designer Charlotte, they return home knowing that they do baking the best out of all their colleagues!
